Engineering, machine learning, and research.

Vancouver, BC

Hello! I'm Amanda.

Where I study:

University of British Columbia

My focus:

Electrical Engineering + Machine Learning

About Me

I'm an engineering student interested in electrical systems, machine learning, and computational research.

I study Applied Science at the University of British Columbia, where I intend to pursue Electrical Engineering. With a background in computer science and a newer interest in hardware, I’ve really enjoyed finding projects that let me bring the two together and learn by building.

My work spans deep learning and reinforcement learning research, high-performance computing, programming instruction, and engineering leadership. Outside of work I enjoy hiking, drawing, and playing the violin.

Experience with

  • Deep learning
  • Reinforcement learning
  • High-performance computing
  • Programming instruction
  • Engineering leadership

Experience

Where I've worked

  1. 2026

    NSERC USRA Research Assistant

    Trinity Western University

Investigated reinforcement-learning methods and structure-prediction oracles for RNA inverse folding. Worked with Python, PyTorch, Linux, Slurm, W&B, and high-performance computing systems.

  2. 2021–2025

    Programming Instructor

    Code Ninjas

Taught programming concepts and supported students building games, applications, and technical projects.

  3. 2025–2026

    Secretary

TWU Math, Engineering & Technology Club

Supported club operations, technical events, student collaborations, and hackathon organization. As the the only engineering representative on the executive team, and I helped bridge the gap between engineering and other STEM disciplines.
